Impacts
Windfarms are significant developments in usually rural areas of the country and we recognise that the proposed Curraheen Windfarm is no different. The significance of these facilities is also acknowledged by the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, which require an EIS to be prepared for all windfarms over 5 MW in size. In compliance with this requirement, an EIS has been prepared for Curraheen Windfarm to address all potential impacts of the proposed development.
The visual, noise and shadow flicker pages contain summary information on some of the key potential impacts of the proposed windfarm. This information is not intended to be comprehensive. Details of all potential impacts (which may reflect future revisions to the proposals) will be included in the final EIS, which will be submitted with the planning application for the windfarm.
In the design of the windfarm, we have made every effort to minimise the potential environmental impacts. We maintain that the proposed design, and the mitigation measures proposed in the EIS, will result in an operational windfarm with the lowest feasible environmental impact on the existing Curraheen area. |
